ABC C-o-n-n-e-c-t is a collaboration between German type foundry Dinamo and art and design studio BNAG, uniting fonts with furniture. The ABC C-o-n-n-e-c-t-o-r-s are easy-to-use metal brackets that help DIY builders join bits of wood together for quick, spontaneous furniture making. And ABC C-o-n-n-e-c-t is a dot font inspired by the metal brackets’ grid system, available in five screw head styles. Both can be purchased via Dinamo.
This web “workbench” lets makers instantaneously share and upload images of their ABC C-o-n-n-e-c-t-o-r-s creations to our community portal. Inside its drawers, you’ll find an uploading tool, an instructional manual, a type specimen, and a prosaic exploration of what it means to connect materially in today’s networked times.
Dinamo is a German type design studio that produces retail and bespoke typefaces as well as software, research, editions, and physical objects. Founded in Basel and Berlin, it operates via a network of satellite members across the globe, oscillating between commercial and cultural projects.
BNAG is a Karlsruhe and Berlin-based multisensory art and design duo, which approaches design as a social practice. It is co-run by Oliver-Selim Boualam and Lukas Marstaller. It works with different formats, including exhibitions, sculptures, furniture design, publishing, and music.
About the Typeface
ABC C-o-n-n-e-c-t is a digital dot font that corresponds to the ABC C-o-n-n-e-c-t-o-r-s grid. The typeface contains monospaced and proportional styles, all with corresponding Italics, making it (probably) the world's first Italic dot font (but don’t drill us on that one). It also comes in 5 common screw head styles, including Flex, Torx, Hex, Nail, and Philips.
